Tottenham Hotspur now want ‘fast’ £60m striker after rave reviews from scouts

Tottenham Hotspur have to bring in attacking additions this summer and must still be in the market despite striking a deal for Timo Werner.

Ange Postecoglou’s first season at Tottenham Hotspur has ended in a fifth-place finish and a route back into European football.

Spurs fans may have had bigger hopes than the Europa League, but this represents a major improvement on last season.

Tottenham must now go into the summer window and bring in reinforcements with Postecoglou desperate to take the club forward.

Some players will need to leave in order to raise funds and clear space for incomings and reports suggest that up to 15 players could be axed.

Postecoglou and Johan Lange will have identified a number of positions to strengthen this summer and striker is surely one of them.

Tottenham Hotspur want Evanilson

This summer is surely the time for Tottenham to go and bring in another forward and a new name has now been mentioned.

Give Me Sport now claim that Tottenham have ‘pinpointed’ Porto striker Evanilson as a potential signing.

It’s suggested that Postecoglou sent scouts to Portugal to watch Evanilson in action and Tottenham talent spotters came back with ‘rave reviews’.

The report adds that Newcastle United are interested in Evanilson too, having considered a January swoop for the Brazilian hitman.

Porto would allegedly want a huge £60million fee for Evanilson though, leaving Tottenham to plot a potential offer.

Tottenham have been linked to other strikers such as Santiago Gimenez and Ivan Toney, but Evanilson now appears to be emerging as a target.

Who is Tottenham target Evanilson?

Evanilson started in the Fluminense ranks before signing for Tombense in 2020, only to head back on loan to Fluminense.

Eight goals in 22 games caught Porto’s attention and they lured him to Portugal in September 2020.

The 24-year-old’s time in Portugal has been a little up and down given that he started with just four goals in 24 outings.

Evanilson hit the goal trail in the 2021-22 campaign, smashing 21 goals in 46 games across all competitions, only to then drop off again last season with 10 goals in 41 appearances.

This season has been much better though, scoring 25 times in 42 games for Porto.

Now called up by Brazil for the first time ahead of Copa America, Evanilson is generating some real hype.

Described as a ‘fast’ striker by Sergio Conceicao, Evanilson may be ready for the next step in his career and a Premier League move would certainly represent that.

£60million is a hefty price tag but Tottenham will need to spend on a striker this summer – and it may well be Evanilson coming in.
