Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Mika Biereth from Arsenal

Sheffield Wednesday are showing an interest in signing Mika Biereth on loan from Arsenal in the summer transfer window. That is according to The Sheffield Star, which reports that the Owls have revived their pursuit of the attacker after failing to secure his arrival this January.

Arsenal elected to send Biereth to Sturm Graz over Hillsborough after recalling the 21-year-old from Motherwell. But Sheffield Wednesday still want to sign the London-born Denmark U21 international and his spell in Austria has only increased the Championship side’s desire.

Man City star Rodri fires a title-race jibe at Arsenal and Liverpool

Manchester City star Rodri has fired an ‘until the end’ jibe at Arsenal and Liverpool after Pep Guardiola’s side won the Premier League title. The Citizens edged the Gunners by two points and the Reds by nine to become the first team to win four Premier League titles on the spin.

Arsenal pushed the Etihad Stadium side until the final day of the campaign after winning all but two of their games in 2024. Only Manchester City with a 0-0 draw and Aston Villa with a 2-0 win in north London took points off Mikel Arteta’s men over their final 18 league games.

But despite Arsenal taking 2.7 points per game in 2024 to Manchester City’s 2.6, Rodri feels the Citizens were always going to win the Premier League title owing to their mentality. He also claims it was the Gunners and Liverpool slipping near the finish that made a difference.

“To have that mentality until the end with Arsenal and Liverpool [in contention],” Rodri said, via quotes by Sport Bible. “They had an unbelievable season until the end. But [Manchester City] keeping that mentality until the end is unbelievable.”

Arsenal have reached an agreement for personal terms with Ferdi Kadioglu as Edu strives to secure his transfer from Fenerbahce. That is according to Milliyet (p16, 26/5), which reports that the 24-year-old is ready to move to north London but the two clubs do not have a deal.

Edu is still yet to meet Fenerbahce’s asking price of at least £17m for the left-back. Kadioglu is under contract at the Super Lig side until June 2026, as well. But Mikel Arteta and Edu see the Turkey international as a suitable option to challenge Oleksandr Zinchenko next season.

Kadioglu can also offer the Gunners a versatile operator as he can play on the right or left of a backline, as well as in a more attacking position. He even offered the Yellow Canaries five assists and three goals over 51 appearances in all competitions during the 2023/24 season.
