Report: Enzo Maresca will decide 'dangerous' Chelsea player's future after he arrives at the club

Enzo Maresca will have some big decisions to make after he joins Chelsea.

The Leicester City manager is set to replace Mauricio Pochettino in the Stamford Bridge dugout after the Argentine’s exit last week.

According to The Telegraph, Enzo Maresca’s move from Leicester to Chelsea should be completed soon.

Once the 44-year-old arrives, one thing he will have to discuss with the club’s sporting directors is who stays and who goes this summer.

Chelsea had several players out on loan this season, including the likes of Omari Hutchinson, Armando Broja and Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea and Enzo Maresca set to discuss player’s future

Maresca has not officially been confirmed as Chelsea manager yet.

However, when the Italian is and finally gets down to work, he is going to have to decide what to do with some players at the club.

For example, according to BBC Sport, Chelsea officials will soon sit down with Maresca to discuss whether Hutchinson should be kept, loaned out or sold this summer.

The winger spent the season out on loan at Ipswich Town, where he impressed. But Chelsea currently have options in the wide positions.

Omari Hutchinson under Kieran McKenna

This term, Hutchinson worked with Kieran McKenna, who was said to be overlooked for the Chelsea job.

He impressed under the Northern Irishman, scoring 10 goals in the Championship to help Ipswich win promotion to the Premier League.

Once described as “dangerous” by former manager Graham Potter, Hutchinson showed a lot of potential during his loan spell at Portman Road.

Ultimately, then, Chelsea would perhaps be wise to keep hold of Hutchinson and send the 20-year-old out on loan again if they do not have space in their squad for him.

However, because of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, the Blues could be tempted to sell Hutchinson this summer. If they make the Jamaica international available, you would expect Ipswich to be one team to make an offer for him after his successful loan spell with them.
