Journalist shares what Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool fans about his talks with Arne Slot last night

Outgoing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said a last goodbye to fans at an event in the city on Tuesday.

More than a week on from his emotional exit at Anfield, Klopp took to the stage in the final scheduled event of his Liverpool career.

That the farewell has lasted so long – and packed out the M&S Bank Arena – simply goes to show what a loved character Jurgen is.

For many Liverpool supporters, it’s hard to accept the fact we won’t see the German around the AXA Training Centre anymore. Nevertheless, life goes on and the Reds are all geared up to welcome new boss Arne Slot this weekend.

So far, Klopp has had only good things to say about his successor, and the 56-year-old was at it again on Tuesday, sharing what he and Slot have spoken about ahead of the Dutchman taking charge.

Jurgen Klopp reveals Arne Slot talks

It was great to see Klopp back in Liverpool on Tuesday. After a brief time away working on his padel skills, the boss made a special return.

He’ll seemingly be around the UK until the weekend, where he’s due to be a guest at Borussia Dortmund’s Wembley Champions League final on Saturday.

It remains to be seen exactly when Slot starts work with Liverpool. But with his contract set to officially begin on Saturday, it seems likely that the 45-year-old will be straight in. Slot has already been spotted on Merseyside, anyway.

With the former Feyenoord boss in the area, he and Klopp have already had chance to speak.

Whether that was face-to-face or over the phone is unclear. But taking to X on Tuesday, journalist James Pearce shared what Jurgen had to say about his conversation with Slot.

“Jurgen Klopp says he’s had “good talks” with new LFC head coach Arne Slot,” says Pearce.

When Liverpool will make signings under Arne Slot

It’s nice to hear that Klopp has been in touch with Slot. The outgoing manager had previously claimed that he would not interfere with his successor beginning work.

However, in practice that was never going to work. The shadow of Klopp’s brilliant time with Liverpool was always going to loom large for Slot.

It’s surely better that he is able to have an open line of communication with Jurgen to ease that pressure slightly.

With Klopp already claiming that he’ll be in the stands to watch Liverpool this season, it feels important that the two managers are on good speaking terms.

Obviously, that’s where Klopp’s involvement will end, though. And he’ll know that.

As for Arne, we can’t wait to see him get to work. With the transfer window almost open, it has been claimed that signings will also be made sooner rather than later. The baton has well and truly been passed.
