How much Enzo Maresca is expected to earn per season at Chelsea, deal has been agreed - journalist

Incoming Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is reportedly expected to sign a deal at Stamford Bridge on big wages, but it’s interesting when you compare the salary to his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino.

Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca, 44, is widely tipped to soon become Chelsea’s next head coach.

TalkSPORT has claimed that Maresca is close to being announced as the new Chelsea head coach at Stamford Bridge on a long-term deal that is at least five years.

Enzo Maresca wages at Chelsea

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Chelsea and Maresca have now agreed a deal for him to take charge in the dugout.

It is explained that the Italian coach is about to pen a five-year contract worth around €5m (£4.25m) per season.

Romano said via his YouTube channel: “Enzo Maresca, five-year contract, also €5 million is going to be his salary at Chelsea with some add-ons and also there is the staff, but around €5 million per season to Enzo Maresca, so the agreement with the manager is done.”

Interestingly, GiveMeSport claims that Mauricio Pochettino was on a staggering £10.4m per season salary before his summer exit from Chelsea by mutual consent.

Maresca’s about to sign a deal in west London worth half of that, but let’s remember this will be his first season as a Premier League manager. His only previous experience of England’s top division came during roles as an assistant boss at Manchester City and West Ham.

Length of contract feels meaningless

It’s hard to really read too much into the five-year deal Maresca will apparently sign.

Until this Chelsea hierarchy stands by one manager for an extended period of time, it’s difficult to really trust anything you see.

Graham Potter agreed a five-year contract when he arrived at Chelsea back in 2022, but he was sacked after less than seven months in charge.

Hopefully, Maresca is afforded time and is finally the man to calm down this wild project at the club.
