'No doubt': Simon Grayson is convinced over what will happen at Leeds United this summer now

Leeds United are now set for a summer of uncertainty after suffering play-off final heartache on Sunday but Simon Grayson is convinced over what will happen in the coming months.

The former Leeds manager was in attendance at Wembley on Sunday to watch his old side lose 1-0 to Southampton, the third time Russell Martin has got the better of Daniel Farke during the 2023-24 season.

Another season in The Championship means another summer of uncertainty. Players are expected to go and The 49ers know they need to sell, with recent financial reports showing the club owes £190m in fees.

Willy Gnonto is already said to be looking for a return to Serie A after missing out on a place in Italy’s squad at Euro 2024, while Jon Newsome predicted five players that could go including Ethan Ampadu.

There are going to be summer exits in order for Leeds to balance the books, and former Leeds manager Grayson gave his take on what will happen this summer with a post on his Instagram after Sunday.

Grayson convinced over what will happen at Leeds this summer

Crysencio Summerville is another player that could depart Elland Road with a number of clubs linked with The Championship Player of the Season. Archie Gray is also set to attract plenty of top-tier admirers.

Grayson thinks there will be a “summer of changes” at Elland Road, but is confident that this Leeds side will return stronger for the experience of failing to be promoted this time around, come next season.

His post read: “Well it wasn’t to be yesterday, yes everyone connected with Leeds United will be feeling it today and for quite a while but to do what the team did should not be forgotten.

“A summer of changes no doubt but this club will be stronger for the set back yesterday. MOT.”

The advantage Leeds and Daniel Farke have unlike last summer

Last summer, Farke came into a situation he has since made clear he was unaware of. Victor Orta’s loan clause allowing players to go on loan without the club being able to reject it, unable to cash in on those.

Financial reports do state that £190m is owed in past player purchases, but Paraag Marathe has made it clear that The 49ers have been aware of that for a while and it does not include two £20m+ deals.

Indeed, Leeds have sold Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra to Bournemouth, both players going for fees north of £20m. But the main advantage is that Farke is not joining in July, Leeds have much more time.
