Report: Liverpool would really love to sign 'magical' Real Madrid player after he hinted about leaving

Liverpool are looking for the right additions to make them a real force under Arne Slot.

There’s no question that Jurgen Klopp has left his successor in a strong position. No major rebuild is needed here.

Despite that, there are some areas of the Liverpool squad that could do with a slight upgrade. It doesn’t quite have the look of a group who can lift the Premier League or Champions League.

Thankfully, work is seemingly set to be done in the transfer market to correct this. Liverpool are said to be looking for a new centre-back and – perhaps more excitingly – another forward to add to the team.

It’s arguably the latter option that will make the biggest difference to Slot and his coaching team. And the Reds are reportedly setting their sights high when it comes to a new attacker.

Liverpool very keen on Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes

It will be fascinating to see which position Liverpool are looking to strengthen across the forward line.

There is surely a long-term need to replace Mohamed Salah, for example, while Luis Diaz may even yet be sold this summer.

One man who could potentially fill either wide position – and even through the middle – is Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes.

Rodrygo has had another good season at the Bernabeu, bagging himself 17 goals in all competitions. The Brazilian is set to play another Champions League final with Los Blancos on Saturday.

However, things aren’t completely rosy in the Bernabeu garden. Kylian Mbappe’s expected arrival this summer is going to shake things up for players like Rodrygo.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the 23-year-old is the most likely player to leave following Mbappe joining the team.

Citing an interview Rodrygo gave this week, they claim that the forward has hinted that he may be looking to move on this summer.

If he does, it’s claimed that the Brazil international would not be short of offers. ‘Half the Premier League’ are said to ‘love’ Rodrygo, with Liverpool reportedly the team most keen at the moment.

Could Rodrygo really leave?

Despite these hints from Rodrygo, Mundo Deportivo also report that the player’s agents have quickly moved to deny that he could leave.

Rodrygo’s entourage have reportedly insisted that he won’t leave Madrid ‘under any circumstances.’

Another to have reported that stance has been journalist Fabrizio Romano. The transfer expert spoke about Rodrygo on Tuesday evening, claiming that he has ‘no intention’ of going anywhere.

Given that teammates of the former Santos youngster have deemed him to be ‘magical’ this season [Be Soccer], it does seem unlikely that he’d be granted an exit.

Nevertheless, it can’t be ignored that Mbappe’s arrival could change the landscape.

Perhaps it’s off the table for now. But with Liverpool trying to sign Rodrygo when he was a young player in Brazil, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them return at some point down the line.
