"On the verge": Oliver Glasner target now set to reject Crystal Palace offer & sign new contract - journalist

Crystal Palace are now set to be rejected by a player Oliver Glasner wants at Selhurst Park.

Rejection is not a word Crystal Palace have become accustomed to so far this summer, after Dougie Freedman decided to ignore Newcastle and stay in his role as Director of Football.

Steve Parish also ensured that Oliver Glasner snubbed an approach from Bayern Munich.

Now – however – Crystal Palace have seemingly been rejected by one transfer target…

Daichi Kamada set to reject Crystal Palace

A story from Radio Sei in Italy claimed that Crystal Palace had offered Daichi Kamada a contract worth £4.2m-a-year as Glasner eyed a reunion with the Japan international.

The man from Ehime impressively scored 25 goals in 93 appearances under the Austrian at Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, it seems as if Crystal Palace may have been used to land Kamada an improved contract offer at Lazio.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that the Lazio No.6 is “on the verge” of signing a new deal with the Italian giants.

Lazio are “still waiting” for Kamada to sign as Crystal Palace’s offer remains on the table, although the Serie A side expect the 27-year-old to renew his deal, as he is happy with life under Igor Tudor in Rome.

Dougie Freedman might have already identified a backup option

On Tuesday, the BBC claimed that Norwich City No.17 Gabriel Sara is a concrete target for Crystal Palace this summer, and has been added to the transfer shortlist.

Like Kamada, the Brazilian can operate in an attacking midfield role, as well as a little deeper, so it is entirely possible that the South American is our alternative to the Japanese maestro.

Sara will – however – come at a much greater cost with a rumoured £30m price tag, whereas Kamada would have been available on a free transfer had he decided against staying with Lazio.
