Report: After £4m Daichi Kamada offer, Crystal Palace now preparing contract to sign another player

After sending Daichi Kamada an offer, Crystal Palace are now preparing a contract for another player.

The Japan international has allegedly been the subject of a £4.2m-a-year contract offer by Crystal Palace as Dougie Freedman attempts to improve Oliver Glasner‘s squad this summer, according to Radio Sei.

It is said that the Lazio No.6’s head has been turned by the deal proposed by the Eagles.

Now – after making contact with Kamada – Crystal Palace are preparing an offer to sign a player from the Turkish Super Lig…

Crystal Palace prepare Batista Mendy contract

A story by Turkish news outlet 61 Saat now claims that Crystal Palace are preparing to make an offer to sign Batista Mendy from Trabzonspor.

It is said that Freedman’s scouts have returned glowing reports on the Frenchman, and as a result of this feedback, Crystal Palace are now readying a move for the defensive midfielder.

It comes after another Turkish news outlet in Fotospor claimed that Mendy would like to join Crystal Palace, and Trabzonspor now feel resigned to losing the 24-year-old.

The man from Saint-Nazaire is expected to cost a sum of €15m (£13m) – a similar fee to the agreement Freedman struck with Real Betis for the deal to sign Chadi Riad.

Dougie Freedman may have found Cheick Doucoure 2.0

Mendy is far from a household name in football, so you may appreciate a comparison to a better known player.

Coincidentally, the Trabzonspor stalwart has been compared to Crystal Palace No.28 Cheick Doucoure.

It was Total Football Analysis who made the comparison, mentioning Mendy’s effectiveness in carrying the ball up the pitch, as well as his tendency to make progressive passes, as comparable traits to the Mali international.

Doucoure looks set to stay with us heading into the 2024/25 campaign following his serious achilles injury, although that may have been a different situation if this problem never occurred, given the fact Liverpool were strongly interested in the summer of 2023.

Therefore, it could be argued that Freedman is already hunting for players who are similar to the Malian, when the times comes for him to depart Selhurst Park.
