Simon Cowell was shocked when a “shy” teenager, Arshiya, decided to switch up her sweet act and become a contortionist on America’s Got Talent. He compared the unique act to “The Exorcist”.
There’s not much that shocks Simon Cowell but when 13-year-old contestant, Arshiya, bent, jumped and moved into freaky positions on the America’s Got Talent stage, he was proven very, very wrong.
‘Shy’ Arshiya joins AGT stage
Arshiya Sharma had never been to the USA until her AGT performance, having grown up and remained in India for her entire life. Now 13 years old, she wants to be a dancer – but one that’s “different” to others.
She plans to keep “giving shocks” in each audition, having practised gymnastics and added some flexibility moves into her dance skills. Her proud mom watched but admitted she couldn’t do it!
Arshiya told the judges, “America’s Got Talent is a big thing, I can’t keep it in my stomach. I’m so excited,” before going off to prepare her zombified outfit and move her body into contortionist shapes.

Unexpected, brilliant and frightening were the three words Simon used to describe Arshiya’s performance, comparing her act to “The Exorcist” and even quickly responding, “God, she’s changed.”
He absolutely loved the act, telling her, “That’s what you’ve got to do with your two or three minutes you have, everyone’s going to be talking about you tomorrow. Trust me.”
Simon added, “The Chihuahua turned into werewolf, and we love you.” Even co-judge, Sofia Vergara, was frightened Arshiya wouldn’t be able to untangle herself out of each position!
Thought sweet teen was Disney-fied
Simon was convinced Arshiya was going to dance to Disney, with some of the other judge convinced she’d change into a traditional Indian costume for the performance.
He told her, “I thought you were going to come back and do a Disney routine or something because you were so sweet, but then you come back as Linda Blair,” before all four judges gave her yeses!
