‘Verbal agreement’: Inter Miami have already taken a big step in signing Angel Di Maria - journalist

Inter Miami have reportedly already taken a huge step in their bid to sign Argentina international Angel Di Maria.

The Herons have been strongly linked with a move to the 35-year-old attacker in recent weeks, with reports emerging in the past few days that Di Maria could join Inter Miami in 2025 after a short stint back home in Argentina.

Although Inter Miami manager Tata Martino has publically stated that Di Maria won’t be joining the Florida franchise, it appears that the club’s stance on the Benfica superstar has changed quite dramatically.

Inter Miami reach financial agreement with Di Maria

According to ESPN journalist Leo Paradizo, Inter Miami have already struck an agreement with Di Maria over the finances of a contract, though a lot more work still needs to be done before the transfer can be completed.

Paradizo said when asked if there is an agreement already between Inter Miami and Di Maria: “In respect to Inter Miami, I can tell you that there is a verbal agreement in terms of the finances with the deal.

“There has always been a desire from Di Maria to play with Messi in MLS, which is why the negotiation has happened, but it does not imply that the move has happened yet, as Miami still need to say ‘yes’ to everything.

“Inter Miami are willing to wait for Di Maria, and Di Maria is willing to wait for Inter Miami, but in terms of the agreement to the finances of the contract, it is already completed.”

Di Maria joining MLS will be another huge milestone for the Herons

With Inter Miami already having arguably the greatest MLS squad ever created, adding Di Maria to the mix would be viewed as another huge milestone for the Florida franchise.

The former PSG and Manchester United playmaker is one of the most decorated players in the 21st Century and was key in helping Argentina win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

With Di Maria also another huge name in the sport, Inter Miami’s profile will raise once again if the veteran attacker joins in 2025, with the forward more than good enough to thrive in MLS.
