Russia-Ukraine war update: Heaviest fighting near Avdiivka

Since the beginning of the day, 28 combat engagements have taken place in the frontline. The Pokrovsk sector remains the most active area of the front, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Since the beginning of this day, the Russian occupants have carried out six air strikes using 10 combat aircraft, and 476 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, Russia maintains a military presence, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, and shells populated areas.

In the Kharkiv sector, Ukrainian troops repelled two Russian attacks near Lyptsi since the beginning of the day. One of the engagements is ongoing. According to the updated data, Russia lost 195 people in this sector over the past day.

In the Kupiansk sector, the Russian attack in the area of Stepova Novoselivka was repelled since the beginning of the day. Another firefight is taking place near Petropavlivka.

In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled one Russian attack near Vyimka village.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russia has tried to force Ukrainian troops from their positions twice since the beginning of the day.

As in the previous day, the situation remains the most tense in the Pokrovsk sector. Eight combat engagements are currently taking place there. Russia is acting with the greatest intensity near Novoselivka Persha. Ukrainian Defense Forces are taking measures to stabilize the situation in this area. According to the updated data, Russia lost 394 personnel in the Pokrovsk sector over the last day.

One attack was repelled in the Kurakhove and Vremivka sectors.

Russia did not conduct any active offensives in the Prydniprovskyi sector today.

Russian offensive in Kharkiv region

Since May 10, the Russians have been trying to push the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of the northern part of the Kharkiv region. Heavy fighting continues there. Last week, the General Staff reported that the threat of a Russian breakthrough had been stopped.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the losses in the Kharkiv sector are 8 to 1 (8 Russians to 1 Ukrainian).
