£38m player now suggests he has no desire to join Arne Slot at Liverpool

One player has now suggested that he has no desire to join Arne Slot at Liverpool this summer.

The Dutchman has – presumably – already decided who he wants to bring to Anfield alongside Michael Edwards, with steps now being taken to sign players.

However, one now seems highly unlikely to join Arne Slot at Liverpool following a revealing interview…

Liverpool target Rodrygo not planning to move

A story by Mundo Deportivo revealed on Tuesday that Liverpool consider themselves frontrunners to sign Real Madrid No.11 Rodrygo – if he were to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Brazil international has developed into one of Europe’s best forwards ever since Real Madrid plucked him from Santos in a €45m (£38m) deal back in June 2018 – the South American has scored 17 goals and provided nine assists in 50 appearances this season ahead of Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund..

Now – however – it would seem Liverpool have no chance of signing Rodrygo, as he reveals his desire to stay at Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old has been quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying: “Some of my words were taken out of context. I’m very happy at Real Madrid, it’s a dream to be here, I’m not planning to leave at all. Now, let’s focus on the 15th Champions League.”

Rodrygo seems to be the very definition of a long-term target for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp even wanting to bring the Brazilian to Anfield before he joined Real Madrid in 2018.

Arne Slot has a similar alternative who is much easier to sign

Interestingly, Liverpool have also been linked with the Dutchman, and after Leeds United failed to win the Championship Play-Off Final, sales seem likely.

The Daily Mail even state that Summerville is the most likely to be sold first, as the Whites must balance finances at Elland Road.

Therefore, with a deal for Rodrygo no longer appearing to be possible after his comments, Slot’s fellow countryman could emerge as a primary target.
