Newcastle United are wasting no time in this summer transfer window.
The Magpies are already making moves. They’re in talks to sign Tosin Adarabioyo, while there have been some whispers that a deal for Aaron Ramsdale is in the offing as well.
Speaking on The Debrief, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing the Magpies’ summer transfer plans, and he’s claimed that he’s very confident about one signing.
Indeed, Romano says that he 100% expects Lloyd Kelly to become a Newcastle player this summer.

“Newcastle want Tosin and Lloyd Kelly, I expect Lloyd Kelly to 100% be a Newcastle player in the summer transfer window,” Romano said.
Kelly a smart signing
Lloyd Kelly isn’t the biggest signing Newcastle will make this summer, but he could be one of the smartest.
The £15m defender could be a great squad option for Newcastle.
The defender can immediately cover two of the Magpies’ biggest problem positions as he’s capable of playing at both left-back and centre-back to a high level.
Of course, Eddie Howe already knows the player having worked with him previously at Bournemouth, and while he may not be a key player from the off at Newcastle, he will provide some much-needed depth to a team that has struggled so much with injuries this season.
Kelly won’t be the only new defensive addition this summer. As Romano says, Tosin Adarabioyo is also being targeted, and even if the Fulham defender doesn’t end up heading to Tyneside, Newcastle will likely target another centre-back.
This could be a very exciting transfer window at St James’ Park, and this early free agent signing could be crucial in terms of filling out this squad with more quality.
This will be a shrewd signing, albeit not a spectacular addition.
