'He'll be tempted': 'Elite' £55m striker would be keen to join Arsenal if they bid for him - journalist

Arsenal may have just received a big boost as they eye a move for one of the best young strikers in Europe.

The Gunners need help from the transfer market to further close the gap between themselves and Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s men beat the Gunners by two points to win the Premier League title in the 2023/24.

Many feel a new striker who can guarantee goals will help Arsenal pip City to the title. Now, an update has emerged on one of Mikel Arteta‘s key summer targets.

Benjamin Sesko’s stance on Arsenal move

Arsenal have been linked with a number of strikers since the turn of 2024, and Benjamin Sesko is one of them.

The 20-year-old had a really impressive season for RB Leipzig in Germany. He scored 18 goals in all competitions and formed a terrific partnership with Lois Openda at the top end of the pitch.

Sesko’s release clause shot up to £55 million following his fantastic season (Goal). He is on the radar of multiple clubs and there’s every chance he leaves Leipzig this summer.

Arsenal could do with a new striker. Gabriel Jesus has fallen down the pecking order, while Eddie Nketiah is likely to be sold once the window opens in June.

Kai Havertz is the main man for the Gunners up top, but as well as he has done, he’s not the player who will guarantee over 20 goals a season.

That’s why Arsenal are said to be on the market for a new number nine, and Sesko, who’s still only 20, could become an excellent option for them.

Journalist Dean Jones has now claimed that the RB Leipzig star would be ‘tempted’ to make a move to the Emirates if Arsenal do table a bid to sign him.

He told GiveMeSport: “My hunch is that Arsenal weren’t planning to do business as soon as the window opens in mid-June, but with Sesko that would be necessary. So this is something they have to decide right now.

“If Arsenal do put their foot down on this one, then he’ll be tempted to go for it. They could definitely turn his head and he would be a great addition to that squad.”

Sesko has been described as an ‘amazing athlete with an elite range of movement/flexibility which enables his acrobatic improvised finishes’ (Breaking the Lines). Arsenal have nobody like him.

What Sesko’s teammates think about him is very interesting

Before joining RB Leipzig, Sesko was a star in Austria at RB Salzburg.

The young forward, who was only a teenager then, was already attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Everyone knew Sesko was going to be a star one day – some of the striker’s teammates at Salzburg even believed he would be better than Erling Haaland, who also played for the Austrian giants.

Speaking about what his teammates used to tell him, Sesko once said, as per the Bundesliga’s official website: “Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy. They do not represent pressure.

“I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he (Haaland) is. My teammates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed.

“Most of them even tell me that I’m better than him!”

For Arsenal to beat Haaland and Manchester City, they perhaps need someone better than the Norwegian superstar. Sesko could well be that man.
