Man City experts all agree on 2023/24's breakout star of the season

Another season is all wrapped up and Manchester City can now relax knowing they had another spectacular year.

The campaign may have ended on a sour note with defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup, but Manchester City still added another three trophies to the ever-growing collection.

The UEFA Super Cup was wrapped up early doors before the Club World Cup was won in December.

Then Pep Guardiola’s side secured the Premier League title for an unprecedented fourth time in a row.

There have been several excellent performers but which player was the Breakout Star of 2023/24?

Manchester City News writers have given their verdicts below.

James Thompson – Oscar Bobb

In his first season in City’s senior squad, Oscar Bobb showed in flashes the immense talent he has.

The best example being his dramatic late winner at St. James’ Park against Newcastle United where he got on the end of a cross from Kevin De Bruyne and danced his way past the Magpies goalkeeper impeccably to score.

Srinivas Sadhanand – Oscar Bobb

It is a massive compliment to Oscar Bobb that after being given a look-in during pre-season, he has gone on to become a first-team player.

Especially considering the wealth of attacking talent City have at their disposal. It is a testament to Bobb’s natural quality and application that he does not look out of place donning sky blue.

The Norwegian also perhaps sent an ominous message to the rest of the Premier League with his crucial last-gasp goal against Newcastle in January.

Bobb’s sumptuous solo goal against Red Star Belgrade and pre-assist against Sheffield United were displays of the fact that City have a gem on their hands.

Oscar Bobb has showcased this term that if he continues to put the hard graft in, he will be a starter one day— making him the embodiment of a breakout star.

Tom Proctor – Oscar Bobb

Oscar Bobb enjoyed an impressive debut campaign for City, after being promoted to the first team ahead of 2023/24 on the recommendation of Txiki Begiristain.

Bobb looks totally at home in a City shirt and never looks overawed playing with such world-class stars.

His brilliant goal away at Newcastle back in January was absolutely huge.
