Baseball: Morishita does it all as Carp massacre Buffaloes

Masato Morishita threw seven sparkling innings while going 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Central League's Hiroshima Carp to a 14-0 interleague win over the Pacific League's Orix Buffaloes on Wednesday.

Morishita (4-2) struck out five while walking one and allowing three hits at Hiroshima's Mazda Stadium as the Carp wiped out the three-time defending PL champs and secured their fifth straight win.

Leading 1-0 in the third against Orix's Daiki Tajima (2-2), Morishita sparked Hiroshima's four-run third with a leadoff single. The pitcher singled in one run and scored another in a five-run sixth. Hiroshima's 19 hits and 14 runs were both season highs.

In other action on Wednesday, the PL's Seibu Lions blanked the Chunichi Dragons 1-0. It was Seibu's first win since general manager Hisanobu Watanabe took over as interim manager on Tuesday.
