Report: Manchester United could get 'world-class' forward in return for £50m player in swap deal this summer

Manchester United could end up getting offered a tempting swap deal in return for a talent who is set to be sold this summer.

Heading into the summer transfer window, Manchester United are expected to be willing to sanction some big sales in order to fund a rebuild of some kind.

Already, this summer has seen both Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane confirm they’ll be heading for the exit doors when their contracts expire next month.

On top of this, Casemiro is expected to be sold along with a few others who aren’t in the plans at Old Trafford anymore.

Now, one potential sale has been linked with an interested club, but it’s a swap deal they look set to offer.

Atletico Madrid to offer Joao Felix for Mason Greenwood

As seems customary now after years of links, Joao Felix has had his name mentioned in relation to joining United, however in a different way this time.

Atletico of course are among the main suitors for one United player this summer in the form of Mason Greenwood who as of now has concluded his loan and will return to Carrington in July.

It all comes according to the Daily Star who report that United are currently considering a Greenwood swap deal which would see Felix come the other way.

Felix is coming off a loan with Barcelona and in which he scored 10 and assisted six in 44 games across all competitions. While Greenwood contributed to the exact same amount of goals in 36 games.

The two players are in similar boats having emerged as top talents only for their stocks to drop albeit for different reasons. But would Felix be a player United should acquire?

Manchester United should refuse this swap deal

Swap deals aren’t a common occurrence in football, which makes us sceptical of the validity of this rumour, however, Madrid’s interest is well documented.

United are said to want £50m for Greenwood this summer, and while Felix is a potentially ‘world-class’ player, the cash would be far more beneficial for United.

Greenwood is believed to be keen on staying in Spain and Madrid particularly where he has settled with Getafe and enjoyed a successful season.

Greenwood should absolutely be sold this summer but it should be a deal which favours United and this simply doesn’t cut it as United could use the cash to revamp the squad.
