A potential masterclass: Wolves must sell prize asset to bring in £10 million bargain

Wolves must cash in on one of their most prized assets to pave the way for an England international to join Molineux.

This summer could be another tough one for Wolves. Last year, many of the Molineux faithful were forced to see multiple star players depart due to FFP fears.

While this isn’t set to be the case this summer, an equally frustrating transfer strategy is in place.

Gary O’Neil confirmed earlier this month that Wolves may need to sell to buy in the summer market. This could see many of their best players leave the club in order to make the necessary amount of signings.

However, one player Wolves should look to sell is Nelson Semedo, especially now a potential bargain has emerged on the market.

Man United look set to change much of their team this summer after a disappointing finish in the Premier League table.

One player who looks set to leave is Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The England international’s contract is set to expire next year which could see him become available for a reduced price.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the right-back is available for around £10 million. However, Italian giants Inter Milan are pursuing his signature.

For this price, Wolves need to once again target the right-back. Wan-Bissaka is only 26 years old and could occupy this position for the foreseeable future.

In comparison, Semedo will turn 31 years old in the coming months and is now edging towards the end of this career.

It is no secret that Semedo had a fantastic 2023/24 campaign. The defender won the Wolves Players’ Player of the Season and became one of the club’s most consistent stars.

However, Semedo’s long-term future at Molineux is in doubt.

The Portuguese international’s contract is set to expire in 2025. This combined with his age doesn’t bode well for Wolves.

With Saudi clubs reportedly chasing Semedo’s signature, it would be wise to cash out on their star man now.

Ruben Neves’ sale last summer showed that Wolves could bring in a decent amount of money for Semedo. This is despite him having just one year left.

If Wolves could get around £20 million for the 31-year-old while also bringing in Wan-Bissaka for £10 million, it could be the best bit of business for years.

Wolves must now be clever in the transfer market, and by making deals such as these, it would leave them in a great position to more signings.
