Report: Chelsea are one of two frontrunners to sign 'unbelievable' forward this summer

Chelsea and Liverpool are the two clubs at the front of a summer transfer race to sign a young forward.

Chelsea have a lot of talent on their books in the attacking areas of the pitch, but they are now linked with signing another offensive threat.

There’s certainly question marks when it comes to Chelsea’s wide positions. For instance, can Blues wingers Mykhailo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke find consistency next season?

Chelsea emerge as a frontrunner for 21-goal attacker

It’s now claimed that the Blues are in the leading pack to sign Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville this summer.

First, The Telegraph reported that Chelsea have set their sights on Leeds forward Summerville as a potential target.

The Sun now explains that Chelsea and Liverpool are the frontrunners in this summer’s chase to land Summerville.

It is detailed that the 22-year-old winger is set for the Elland Road exit doors after Leeds lost the Championship play-off final and missed out on promotion.

The report says it’s a five-way battle for the Dutch attacker’s signature between Chelsea, Liverpool, West Ham, Fulham and Bournemouth. However, Chelsea and Liverpool are the frontrunners at this current moment.

In addition, Leeds ace Summerville is valued at between £35-40m, with a Premier League switch considered ‘most likely’ for him.

Crysencio Summerville is Premier League ready

The Chelsea Chronicle is confident that Summerville is ready for the top division again after a brief crack at the Premier League earlier in his young career. Is he good enough to start for Chelsea, though?

The very fast left-winger was recently voted the Championship Player of the Season after a dominant individual campaign. He scored 21 goals and made 11 assists in 49 matches for Leeds across all competitions this year.

Described as “unbelievable” by Dan James via LUTV a month ago, Summerville ticks all the boxes as a modern wide player. He’s got the pace and trickery to torment full-backs, plus an eye for goal and end product.

His position of the pitch is not really one Chelsea should be prioritising when you look around the squad, but low-key it could be quite shrewd if interest is ramped up this summer.
