Person Sucked Into Plane Engine In Front of Amsterdam Airport Passengers, Workers

A person was killed after they were sucked into a running airplane engine in front of horrified passengers.

It happened Wednesday at Holland's Schiphol airport.

KLM released a statement saying, "We are currently taking care of the passengers and employees who witnessed the incident at Schiphol."

The airline said KL1341 was leaving to head for Billund when the shocking incident took place.

An airport employee told the De Telegraaf newspaper that someone jumped or was sucked into the engine after the crew had just completed safety instructions.

The body caused a "hellish noise" and smoke.

"Terrible news about a fatal accident today at Schiphol," Infrastructure Minister Mark Harbers said on X. "Terrible news about a fatal accident today at Schiphol. My condolences go out to the relatives of the victim and the people who witnessed the accident."

The Royal Netherlands Military Police said that all passengers and employees were removed from the plane and an investigation was underway.

The victim has not yet been identified and it was unclear if it was an airport worker.
