'Thank you': Jaidon Anthony sends message to Leeds United supporters as Bournemouth loan comes to an end

Jaidon Anthony has sent a message to Leeds United supporters with his loan spell from Bournemouth having come to an end.

Anthony joined on a season-long-loan on deadline day last summer as part of the deal that took Luis Sinisterra the other way.

While Sinisterra has since made his switch to the Cherries permanent, it became clear a while ago that Anthony would not be doing the same, with just two league starts under his belt all season.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola said earlier this year that he was looking to welcome Anthony back for pre-season on the South Coast, and acknowledged his lack of game time was due to the form of others in his position.

The 24-year-old made his final appearance for the club as a substitute at Wembley as Leeds were beaten 1-0 in the Championship play-off final by Southampton.

Anthony sends message to Leeds supporters

It would be fair to say Daniel Farke has underused Anthony at times this season, but it certainly does not feel as if there is any bad blood from either side.

Anthony has not once complained at his lack of minutes, which has simply been down to the form of Championship POTS Crysencio Summerville, who was his competition on the left-wing.

It has unfortunately been a tough year for Anthony off the pitch, too, with the very sad news of his Mother’s passing back in January.

Writing on his Instagram story earlier this evening, Anthony wanted to thank Leeds fans for how they have helped him get through such a difficult period of his life, and says it has been an ‘honour’ to represent the club.

He said: “An honour to wear this shirt! No secret this has been the toughest year of my life but your support has got me through! Not the end any of us wanted but I’ve met some amazing people and created some special memories playing for this club! Thank you Leeds fans, you are something special.”

Anthony just yet another player Leeds will need to replace

After missing out on promotion, Leeds’ squad looks set for somewhat of an overhaul this summer and Anthony is just another who needs replacing.

Though given his lack of game time, on paper it does not seem as if he will be a major miss, but he is one of three wingers who could be on his way out.

Both Summerville and Willy Gnonto have been touted for exits by BBC journalist Rory Smith, which would leave them three wingers short going into next season.

If they want to put together another promotion push, they would all need replacing and so Anthony’s exit certainly does leave a hole in the squad.
