Fall River (Mass.) Vermont Academy four-star shooting guard Joson Sanon has flipped his commitment from Arizona to Arizona State, he announced on Wednesday.

The top-30 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking had been pledged to the Wildcats since March, but has opted to instead play for the rival Sun Devils next season.

Once a member of the Class of 2025, Sanon opted to reclassify as well to get on the court earlier in Tucson.

However, with the announcement that Arizona’s All-American combo guard Caleb Love would be returning for another season after previously entering the NBA Draft process, Sanon had a change of heart.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pounder is the No. 27 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 6 shooting guard and the No. 1 recruit in Vermont.

Sanon joins Five-Star Plus+ center Jayden Quaintance in the Sun Devils’ class, giving them one of the best crops in program history. Quaintance was a one-time Kentucky signee, but asked out of his National Letter of Intent following John Calipari’s departure. He considered the Wildcats, Louisville and others but ultimately signed with Bobby Hurley and Co.
