Fans shut down TV star's claims of being in 'longest-standing marriage'

With a brand new season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey in full swing, Margaret Josephs, Melissa Gorga, and the rest of the ladies are doing interviews like there’s no tomorrow. This May, season 14 is filled with drama, but it seems there’s even more going on outside of filming, too.

Many of the Real Housewives of New Jersey ladies are happily married, but Melissa states this year that she and her husband, Joe Gorga, are marking a real milestone this year. The two will have been married for 20 years this August, something she says makes them the “longest-standing” married couple on Bravo.

Melissa Gorga’s marriage

During an episode of Sherri this May, the show’s host was joined by RHONJ’s Melissa and Joe.

The couple sat down to talk about the reality TV show, as well as their relationship, and their ongoing feud with Teresa Giudice.

Melissa and Joe are asked, if after 20 years together this August, they’re “sick” of one another.

The two explain that they’re “best friends” and Joe says: “We’re in it together.”

Melissa said: “Do you know that we are the longest-standing couple on Bravo TV?”

Sherrri said: “Really? Of the Housewives? I didn’t think about that, you are.”

Fans shut down the claims

Although Melissa is keen to share how successful her marriage is, it seems fans are quick to point out her statement isn’t exactly correct.

Taking to X (Twitter), one fan wrote: “They aren’t even the longest standing couple on #RHONJ,” and shared a photo of Jennifer and Bill Aydin.

Another tweeted: “Um prior to Kyle and Mo’s split they were married almost 30 years, also LVP 40 years of marriage, oh and The Hugers about the same, Melissa just stop.”

More agreed: “Karen and Ray would like to differ!”

Karen and Ray Huger will be celebrating 28 years of marriage this year.

Married To Medicine’s Cecil Whitmore and Dr Simone Whitmore have also been married 28 years this May.
