Why Cesc Fabregas wasn't considered for the Chelsea job - journalist

There are probably some Chelsea supporters who would have liked Cesc Fabregas to be given a chance in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

Cesc Fabregas, of course, played for Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles during his time at the club.

He is now doing a good job at Italian side Como, helping them win promotion to Serie A as assistant manager.

Ultimately, Fabregas is proving to be another promising Spanish coach like Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso.

However, it appears that he was never in contention for the Chelsea gig.

Cesc Fabregas not returning to Chelsea in any capacity

Fabregas actually returned to Cobham not too long ago, but it was just a visit, according to journalist Simon Johnson.

Chelsea felt it was too early for the former midfielder to be considered for the managerial vacancy and there are no plans for him to be part of Enzo Maresca’s set-up either, Johnson has also claimed.

Maresca is the man who Chelsea have turned to following Mauricio Pochettino‘s departure from the club last week.

The Leicester City boss has reportedly agreed a five-year deal with Chelsea to become their new manager.

Will Cesc Fabregas return to Chelsea one day?

These Spanish coaches, the likes of Arteta and Alonso, who have all worked with Pep Guardiola, are proving to be something else.

The latter did not even lose a game in the Bundesliga this season as Leverkusen went on to win the title.

If Fabregas can become anything like those two, it is not impossible that he gets some sort of coaching job at Chelsea, perhaps even the top one.

For now, though, it looks like the World Cup winner will be staying at Como, while Chelsea put all of their trust in Maresca, hoping that he can be the man to take the club back to the top again after a couple of disappointing seasons.
