‘No chance’: Carlos Sainz will not be joining zero-win F1 team in 2025 despite Ferrari exit – journalist

Carlos Sainz knows full well that the eyes of the world of Formula 1 are on him as they anxiously wait to see what he’s going to do next when his time at Ferrari comes to an end.

A third of the 2024 Formula 1 season has now elapsed and so far, half of the grid has been confirmed for the next campaign.

There are still plenty of teams on the grid that haven’t confirmed their driver line-up for 2025 and Carlos Sainz is unsurprisingly one of the most coveted available stars.

Taking to social media, Daniel Moxon has quashed rumours about one team the Spaniard could join next season.

Although eight teams technically have seats available – McLaren and Ferrari are the exceptions, although Aston Martin could be included in that list – only a few manufacturers fit the bill for the 29-year-old.

It’s understood that there is ‘no chance’ that Carlos Sainz will be making a dramatic return to Visa Cash App RB in 2025.

The Italian team are already wrestling with the challenge of fitting three drivers into their two race seats next year.

And it doesn’t look like they’ll be throwing Carlos Sainz’s name into the mix.

‘No chance’ that Carlos Sainz signs for Visa Cash App RB in 2025

Visa Cash App RB have had a decent start to their first campaign under their new moniker.

That’s almost exclusively down to Yuki Tsunoda, who is having the best season of his Formula 1 career.

Daniel Ricciardo’s return to F1 has been satisfactory but not extraordinary, however, his experience is still very important to the team’s success.

Helmut Marko and team principal Laurent Mekies also have the Liam Lawson conundrum to deal with.

The 22-year-old Kiwi was fantastic during his five-race cameo and Lawson has a clause in his contract seemingly guaranteeing him a seat in 2025.

That puts RB in a precarious position and is one of several reasons why there’s no chance Sainz will return to Red Bull’s sister team.

Thankfully for Sainz, he has several other options on the table at this stage of negotiations.

Who will Carlos Sainz be driving for in 2025?

Responding to a rumour that Sainz could join RB next year, Moxon said: “Understand there is no chance of Carlos Sainz joining RB next year, contrary to the report below.”

Carlos Sainz has been holding out to see whether he could replace Sergio Perez in the senior Red Bull team.

However, Perez looks to be closing in on a new contract, closing off one avenue for Sainz.

The Spaniard started his F1 career with RB’s predecessors Toro Rosso and was teammates with Max Verstappen.

Their camps clashed behind the scenes and it’s understood Verstappen’s team wouldn’t be too happy with being paired with the Spaniard once again.

Thankfully for Sainz, there are at least two other teams on the grid desperate to sign him.

Sainz has been linked with Audi for months and they would love him to partner Nico Hulkenberg next year.

However, the German manufacturer appear less certain that they can sign Sainz and have placed Yuki Tsunoda at the top of their shortlist.

Williams have also made a bold play for Sainz and his camp have been very impressed with the team during discussions.

Although Williams and Sauber are below RB in the Constructors’ Championship right now, both teams arguably have a higher ceiling than Red Bull’s sister team.
