Manti (Utah) Utah Prep School Five-Star Plus+ small forward AJ Dybantsa will visit BYU on Monday, according to a report from Vanquish the Foe’s Robby McCombs.
Dybantsa is the nation’s top overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Last week, it was announced that Dybantsa would transfer from Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep to Utah Prep.
Utah Prep program director Shane Hayden told KSR+ that Dybantsa’s transfer from Prolific Prep (Napa, CA) “has been in the works for about two months.”
“Basically, we have a 17-year-old version of a future LeBron James,” Hayden said.
Hayden went on to say more about Dybantsa’s skill.
“It’s the fact that he can hit NBA-level shots,” he said. “He can rise up and hit high-level shots. He’s got elite, elite footwork and a polished skill set to where he can get to his spots, rise up, and hit tough NBA-level shots.”
On3’s Scouting Summary for AJ Dybantsa: “AJ Dybantsa is a lengthy and wiry 6-foot-7, maybe 6-foot-8 wing. He has a slippery and smooth handle in the open floor that allows him to attack the basket downhill. He is a bouncy athlete at the rim, finishing high above in transition. Dybantsa has a smooth jump shot and can create his own shots off the bounce. He has the length and upside to be very good when he is locked in on the defensive end. With a 2007 birthday, he has the foundation of all the tools; it will simply be about continuing to get stronger and developing the vast skill base. He is tracking as one of the top players in his class.”
