The Women’s College World Series is closing on the championship series, with the final two teams being decided throughout Monday’s action, which features matchups of Oklahoma vs. Florida and Texas vs. Stanford.

Below, you can read about the results to date and then check out the full WCWS schedule further down.

Day 1 of the WCWS started with a full day of softball, although weather got in the way of the first one. UCLA vs. Alabama kicked off the day an hour later than planned, but the Bruins came away with the victory thanks to a three-run home run in the sixth inning. Oklahoma and Duke followed that up, and it was all Sooners en route to the 9-1 victory in six innings thanks to the 8-run rule.

In the night slate, Texas squared off against NiJaree Canady and Stanford, and got the better of the best pitcher in the country. The Longhorns came away with the 4-0 victory thanks to a dominant showing from Teagan Kavan, and another pitcher’s duel followed as Florida defeated Oklahoma State. The Gators got their first hit in the fifth inning – a home run to take the lead – and eventually got the 1-0 victory.

That set up Day 2 of the Women’s College World Series with the four losers of Thursday’s games squaring off as part of the double-elimination format.

Alabama and Duke started the night off with a nail-biter, and it was the Crimson Tide who came out on top. Marlie Giles had both RBI en route to the 2-1 victory, keeping Alabama’s season alive. The nightcap saw a dominant performance from Stanford, which defeated Oklahoma State 8-0 via run rule.

Day 3 games feature two intriguing matchups, with the winners advancing to Monday. Since none of the four teams have lost, the losers will then play Sunday to try and keep their seasons alive.

No. 2 seed Oklahoma and No. 6 seed UCLA got things going on Saturday, and it was a bona fide pitcher’s duel between Kelly Maxwell and Kaitlyn Terry. However, a third-inning home run from Tiare Jennings was the difference as OU held on for the 1-0 victory to return to the national semifinals and send UCLA to the losers bracket against Stanford.

Texas and Florida followed in the second matchup as the Longhorns dominated from the get go. The top-seeded Longhorns jumped out to a 5-0 start by the end of the first inning and never looked back. Katie Stewart led the team with 4 RBI and went 2-for-2 at the plate with one home run in an eventual 10-0 run rule victory. Now the Texas moves on to face the winner between Stanford and UCLA on Monday.

Day 4 featured a pair of elimination games and a three-hour weather delay to start the day only added to the anticipation.

Alabama and Florida finally got things going around 5 p.m. CT in the first game of the day. The Gators used a three-run homer from Jocelyn Erickson to take a 6-2 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning. Alabama added a couple of runs to inch closer in the bottom of the inning, but was ultimately unable to overcome the deficit as it saw its season end.

Stanford and UCLA met in the second game of the day. Although the Bruins jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead by the second inning, that would be the only run they could muster as the Cardinal went on to win 3-1. Ace NiJaree Canady got the start at pitcher and finished with eight strikeouts and three hits allowed across a full game. Stanford moves on to face No. 1 seed Texas on Sunday and must beat the Longhorns twice to advance to the WCWS final.

Day 5 began with maybe a surprising result as Florida was able to take down Oklahoma and force the ‘If necessary’ game ahead of the WCWS Finals. A 20-game winning streak in the NCAA Tournament was broken for the Sooners, meaning Patty Gasso’s team was in unfamiliar territory. Florida now hopes to ride their momentum and win one more to pull off the upset.

Texas and Stanford made things a little more interesting, with an incredible slide from Alyssa Washington being the difference in a 1-0 win. The Longhorns are not set to be in the WCWS Finals and will be awaiting their opponents. After losing in the same round two years ago, head coach Mike White has his team in position once again.
