Explosions heard in Kharkiv, city under attack

Explosions rocked Kharkiv on Thursday evening, May 30. The Russian Federation once again struck the city, according to the city mayor, Ihor Terekhov, and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.

During the night on Friday, May 31, Russian forces again targeted the city of Kharkiv. As reported by Mayor Ihor Terekhov, explosions were heard in the city.

Later, he reported that two strikes had been recorded in a densely populated residential area. According to Syniehubov, there is damage to civilian infrastructure.

"Information regarding casualties is being verified. Inspection by relevant services is ongoing," he wrote.

Terekhov reported that there were hits on a multi-apartment residential building.

"There is destruction and fire. Information about casualties is being clarified," he wrote.

Syniehubov clarified that a five-story building was hit. There may be people under the rubble.

Terekhov reported that the Russians struck the same place again, where the first strikes were made. According to the State Emergency Service, people may be under the rubble of the five-story building.

Syniehubov reported that one injured person is already known.

"At the moment, one injured person is known, hospitalized. The fire investigation and liquidation are ongoing," he wrote.

The number of casualties from the shelling of Kharkiv has risen to 8 people.
