We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Newark Steampunks for an incredible Bank Holiday weekend.
Family members travelled up from Stratford upon Avon to experience it and they were not disappointed.
Contrary to popular belief, Steampunk Events are not just for steampunks.
Although we, like many others, are not steampunk, we felt really included thanks to the warm welcome.
Despite some torrential rain, the town was absolutely buzzing.
We noticed shops and cafes that normally close on Sundays and Mondays gave up their hard-earned days off and stayed open.
The Flying Circus played host to great live music all day, in addition to the singers and bands in the Market Place.
The market was full and had expanded indoors too, with so many stalls selling such a wide variety of goods.
We were lucky enough to have secured tickets to the steampunk fashion show on Saturday. The event showcased most amazing designs from the steampunks themselves, but the show-stopper came from the talent of local designer Hajra Kemari, of Petit Versailles, whose designs were world-class.
The steampunks paraded through the town on Sunday afternoon bringing colour and entertainment to anyone that had braved the rain.
This event no doubt brought in visitors from far and wide benefitting all the businesses who stayed open.
