'He is a player': Micah Richards admits £15m Nottingham Forest player has blown him away this season

BBC Sport pundit Micah Richards has admitted there is one player at Nottingham Forest who has really impressed him this season.

A turbulent campaign for Nottingham Forest saw Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side narrowly avoid the drop following their four-point deduction earlier in the term.

Although the majority of the season was spent worrying about whether they would be able to retain their Premier League status, there were a number of promising individual displays.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood were two of those players who shone in what was a season packed full of uncertainties.

Sky Sports pundits have not been too well received at Forest this season, but Richards has now been hailing some of the individual performances he’s seen from Nuno’s side.

However, there was another player who caught the eye of the former Manchester City defender who has admitted Forest have a serious talent on their hands.

Micah Richards left wowed by £15m Nottingham Forest player

This summer could see Evangelos Marinakis forced to part ways with some of the club’s most promising talents to balance the FFP sheets.

Forest will have until June 30 to offload some of their players to generate some much-needed revenue to avoid any further points deductions for the upcoming season.

One player who could potentially be sold to bring in a decent chunk of change is the £15m summer signing, Murillo.

The Brazilian has played a big role at the back at the City Ground this season having made 32 appearances in the Premier League alone.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Richards waxed lyrical about a number of Forest players, but it was Murillo that received the biggest praise of them all.

“Yeah, Elanga has been very good, Hudson-Odoi has been very good, Morgan Gibbs-White,” said Richards.

“But the centre-half Murillo, he is a player. Lovely left foot. The way he comes out, breaks the lines, yeah, they have got some good players.”

Tottenham showing interest in Murillo ahead of summer window

One side which provided Forest some financial relief last summer was Tottenham when they coughed up for Brennan Johnson.

And it seems as if they could be back again almost 12 months later with The Athletic claiming Tottenham holding an interest in the Forest centre-back, Murillo.

However, the Lilywhites will likely have to pay even more than what they put forward for Johnson last summer with Forest said to value Murillo at around the £70m mark.

Having seriously impressed during his campaign at the City Ground, it would be a real shame for Nuno to lose the 21-year-old.

But given the money which Forest could potentially earn from selling him, it would be hard to say no if a club was willing to offer in the region of £70m this summer.
