Celtic key dates for transfer window, Scottish Premiership fixtures and first step of treble bid

Celtic supporters will already be missing club football following a climactic end to the 2023/24 campaign under Brendan Rodgers.

The Irishman came back to Parkhead with a mission to deliver silverware, and he lived up to his promise by bringing a Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double to Parkhead.

Now, the familiar feeling of summer boredom has set in. International football is set to dominate the landscape over the coming weeks; however, nothing compares to watching Celtic fight on all fronts for silverware.

Nevertheless, the 2024/25 season isn’t as far away as it appears. On that topic, 67 Hail Hail have evaluated some key dates for Celtic fans to jot down as the countdown to the new campaign commences.

Celtic await the transfer window and league fixture dates

Recruitment is set to come into focus over the next few weeks, with a busy summer in store for Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead.

Per Sky Sports, the transfer window will officially open for business on June 14th, the same day Scotland take on Germany in the opening match of EURO 2024.

Despite Celtic lifting the league title less than two weeks ago, the Scottish Premiership fixture list for 2024/25 will soon be announced.

There are no new teams as such to look forward to locking horns with next term; however, Dundee United’s promotion to the top flight marks an exciting chunk of fixtures missing from the calendar in 2023/24 that has returned, with away days at Tannadice a favourite among the hardcore Celtic support.

What is already known about Celtic’s pre-season schedule

Before the competitive action begins, Celtic have an exciting pre-season schedule to look forward to, with more fixtures to be announced in due course.

Taking what is already known, the Bhoys travel down to Somerset Park on July 5th to face Scott Brown’s Ayr United in a clash to mark the opening of their new North Stand.

Tickets for visiting supporters have already sold out ahead of the anticipated reunion involving Rodgers and his former captain.

Ayrshire to America is an unusual journey; nevertheless, later in the month, Celtic head Stateside for three high-profile matches against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea, taking place on July 20th, July 23rd and July 27th, respectively.

Starting off against MLS opposition at Audi Field, Washington, the Hoops will then travel to face Pep Guardiola’s Premier League holders in North Carolina three days later.

Last but by no means least, Celtic finish their tour of the USA by going head-to-head with Chelsea at the famous Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, which is home to the world-renowned Notre Dame Fighting Irish college football team, who draw on worldwide support. Exciting times indeed!

Scottish Premiership opener, cup dates and Champions League

Apologies, this has become a bit of a deep-dive piece; however, it wouldn’t be 67 Hail Hail without wall-to-wall Celtic coverage.

Rodgers’ men won’t enter the Premier Sports Cup until the weekend of August 17th/18th due to their involvement in European competition.

Matchday five of the group stage takes place on July 27th/28th, so supporters will have to wait until some point after these fixtures are complete to find out who they will face in the Second Round.

Celtic find out the layout of their encounters in the new Champions League format on August 29th. More information on the draw, seedings, pots and potential opponents can be found here.

Fixture take place as follows:

  • Matchday 1 – 17th-19th September 2024
  • Matchday 2 – 1st/2nd October 2024
  • Matchday 3 – 22nd/23rd October 2024
  • Matchday 4 – 5th/6th November 2024
  • Matchday 5 – 26th/27th November 2024
  • Matchday 6 – 10th/11th December 2024
  • Matchday 7 – 21st/22nd January 2025
  • Matchday 8 – 29th January 2025

Transfer deadline day in Scotland

Finally, transfer deadline day in Scotland falls on Monday, September 2nd, spelling an end to the summer market period.

Ideally, business will have been completed before then, but the club have a habit of unearthing savvy acquisitions in the dying embers of the window.
