One of the greatest Manchester United players of all time, Wayne Rooney has once more been undergoing media duties, as he begins life as the manager of Plymouth.

His rise as a pundit for Sky, BBC and ITV has been interesting to watch and he’s impressed in the role, and also as a host of the Stick to Football podcast.

For many fans, Rooney is the best player of this century at least, and now his son is currently rising through the ranks for the club and hopes are high that he can end up of similar quality to his father.

Wayne Rooney has say on how much potential Kai has

This week, Rooney has been appearing on The Overlap alongside Neville, with countless interesting stories emerging from their conversation.

Rooney answered questions such as who his best-ever teammate was, and also who his best manager was as well, but now he’s discussed his son Kai who is currently a U14 for United.

Neville began, “I’ve only seen little clips of him on social media and stuff but he has got your sort of…”

To this Rooney took over, saying, “My physique, but he’ll be taller than me and he’s a goalscorer, he’s in the box, he sniffs chances out and that’s his game, so he’s doing okay.”

Neville then asked, “Obviously you can’t remember yourself, but is he at that sort of level where you think he’s got a chance, or is it too early?”

Rooney then explained his verdict, “I think it’s too early, you never know. I think he’s showing potential and good signs. So he’s obviously he’ll be at United now for the next two years and that’s when they make decisions on you so just wait and see.”

Continuing, Rooney told a story of Kai playing against Liverpool and touched on one trait he shares with his son.

“There was a great game in the quarter-finals to beat Liverpool 3-2, we went 2-0 down, United and Kai scored to get back into it then they went to 2-2, and then Kai got sent off. [For a] tackle, straight red yeah. But they won the game 3-2.”

Finally, after this story, Neville asked, “Is he aggressive?”

To this Rooney had a brilliant answer, “He’s aggressive yeah, in a good way. So he’s doing well.”

Kai Rooney is among the most exciting talents in his age group

As many would hope from the son of a legend, it appears Kai is so far at least living up to his name and is arguably one of the biggest stars right now in the lower rungs of the academy.

He scored during a U14 academy final a few weeks ago, with the Manchester United legend’s son being joined by Michael Carrick‘s son Jayce.

Often seen showing off some impressive skills in training, Rooney has also now proven himself a player for the big occasion, just like Wayne.

With Wayne labelling him a goalscorer, it’s little surprise as the prospect actually holds the record for scoring the most goals in a single season at U12 level with 56, an audacious amount.

Now he’s lifting silverware and scoring vital goals, it may be too early to be excited about his ability or label him as Rooney 2.0, but he’s definitely showing signs, and we cannot wait to see if he ends up as a U18 and beyond in the next few years.
