Report: 'Very fast' £45m player would rather join Arsenal than Chelsea this summer

It looks like Chelsea may be at risk of missing out on a striker transfer target to Premier League and London rivals Arsenal.

There’s been plenty of rumours recently linking the Blues with several different No 9s.

The Telegraph reports that incoming Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has asked the club to sign a new goalkeeper, left-back and forward this summer.

Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson are forwards in the current playing squad that can lead the line at Stamford Bridge, but will there be a new striker competing for a starting position next season?

Striker would pick Arsenal over Chelsea

According to The Mirror, RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko is favouring a move to Arsenal this summer despite a lot of interest from other clubs.

It is understood that Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and clubs in Italy all like the 21-year-old striker.

The report claims that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners side are in pole position to sign Sesko because the player prefers a move to the Emirates Stadium.

In addition, the Bundesliga side Leipzig are willing to sell their emerging talent for the right price. It is stated that he’s currently valued at £45m.

Benjamin Sesko would be a top signing

The Chelsea Chronicle really likes the idea of the Blues signing Sesko. Therefore, it’s crushing news that Arsenal have their noses in front during this latest transfer saga.

In his first year playing in Germany, Sesko finished the 2023/24 season with an impressive 18 goals in 42 matches for Leipzig.

The young attacker has the pace, strength and composure that makes him a seriously exciting prospect for Premier League teams.

Described as “very fast” by agent Elvis Basanovic in 2021 (AS), Sesko would be the ideal competition at Chelsea for Jackson next season. Will he be lining up across London in a red shirt, though?
