Pundit says Manchester United player has 'old-school' qualities which he loves, admits he's always impressed

One Manchester United player has now been lauded for his ‘old-school’ qualities which make him an exciting player to watch.

The Manchester United squad ended the season on a high, lifting the FA Cup last weekend at Wembley, although it feels like ages ago.

It rounded off a fairly poor campaign for Erik ten Hag and his side which saw the club finish eighth in the league.

Despite this, several players left the campaign with their stocks significantly higher than they were before it began.

This is the case for the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund, who all had impressive seasons when playing.

Now one has been raved about for his style of play.

Theo Walcott admits he absolutely loves Alejandro Garnacho

On this week’s episode of Planet Premier League, Theo Walcott was discussing the FA Cup final and picked out Manchester United academy graduate Alejandro Garnacho as a standout.

“I mean it was counter-attacking at its finest,” Walcott explained.

“Really, I’m in love with the wingers, Garnacho and Rashford, Garnacho in particular because I’m a big believer in players that will just create something out of nothing and make runs in behind. I always see him ask questions of defenders.

“He likes to go on both sides and again not being one-dimensional, I think. Otherwise, you’re gonna be too predictable all the time. You need to change your game and I think he’s one player who has, and that’s just [through] more game time and that’s helping him massively.

I’m a big fan of this, as a winger myself, to see the current generation of wingers are different. He’s got a bit of both, old school, which I like and then the new, it’s a good balance, really good.”

Walcott then finally made one prediction over the winger’s future which few United fans will be keen to hear.

“They’ll do well to keep hold of him, he’ll probably end up at Madrid at some point.”

Alejandro Garnacho has earned his spot at Manchester United

On what Walcott said, it’s Garnacho’s multitude of talents and abilities which makes him a bonafide starter for Ten Hag.

Despite having competition from Marcus Rashford, there is no debating that it’s Garnacho who should be starting the 2024/25 season which is a testament to how special the Argentine’s rise has been to this point.

Coming off a 15-goal contribution season, Garnacho will have even higher expectations next season and with improved finishing which should come naturally through development, he could easily break 20.

In terms of the battle for that position, the weight is now on Rashford to prove himself and get back into the team, however, this isn’t something we see coming anytime soon.
