Ramsgate to host its first ever Pride

A seaside town will host its first ever Pride parade and party.

Ramsgate Pride is taking place tomorrow, and includes a march through the town centre, a picnic and a family festival.

A parade will take place down Ramsgate High Street

It has been organised by cafe, community and art space Sugar Rush alongside Stage Door Arts CIC.

The first event, a Pride family story time, will run from 9.30 till 10.30am at Ramsgate Library.

This is followed by the parade, which will be travelling through the High Street and Harbour Street at 11am.

Most of the events throughout the day are free, with the exception of a family rave from 3 till 5pm and the afterparty, from 8pm onwards.

Organiser Genevieve Pepper said: “We are throwing Ramsgate’s first ever Pride Party this Saturday.

“We have organised the whole thing in less than three weeks as part of our mission to provide affordable, inclusive entertainment and fun to our community.”

Sugar Rush and Stage Door Arts CIC are found on Ramsgate High Street in the old WHSmith building.

Nearby towns of Margate and Herne Bay already hold Pride festivals.

Kent’s biggest, held in Canterbury, has had to cut back to one day this year due to financial issues.
