Prevent your smile from being dulled by coffee stains with dentist's top tips

I, for one, couldn’t imagine my day without multiple cups of coffee, even if it stains my teeth. Like me, if you can’t give up on your favorite beverage, a dentist reveals how to maintain white teeth while enjoying it.

But in one of his TikTok videos, Dr. Suhail says there’s another popular beverage that stains the teeth more than coffee.

Tea, coffee and cigarettes addiction and habit, from the top

How coffee lovers can maintain ‘white teeth’

Firstly, your teeth only have to be as bright as the white of your eyeball. If your coffee-drinking habit has stained it too much, only then should you consider the below tips.

You may have stained teeth if you take a long time to finish your coffee. The dentist says you should take no more than thirty minutes to finish it. And the next crucial step is to rinse your mouth after drinking it.

He suggests using hydrogen peroxide whitening products such as Credit Hite Strips or Opalescence for at least 30 to 40 minutes, thrice a week, if your intake of coffee is regular..

The dentist recommends using a high-quality electric toothbrush daily to avoid staining from coffee. Another easy way is to use a straw to drink it rather than sipping on it directly.

The fourth and last tip involves using a thick floss like Crocofloss to reduce staining between your teeth.

But tea causes more stain

This may come as a shock to you, but tea is believed to stain your teeth more than coffee, according to the dentist. Several reports back the claim that tea is more likely to stain your teeth.

The dentist explains that staining is caused by a substance called tannins, naturally occurring plant compounds found in tea and coffee.

However, tea has twice the amount of tannins than coffee. “The higher the tannins concentration, the more staining occurs,” he says.

His video concludes with a list of teas that stain your teeth on different levels – it’s not what you’d have guessed. The least to most staining teas in the same order include Herbal, White, Oolong, Black, and Green.
