Your Galaxy Watch will get a big free AI update later this year

Earlier this year, Samsung debuted Galaxy AI with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, before adding its features to plenty of older devices.

Now, the Korean company has announced that it’ll be bringing Galaxy AI to Galaxy Watch smartwatches, enhancing its popular health features.

By combining on-device AI with the extensive Samsung Health app, Samsung is hoping to on the path to create some of the most personalised and secure health experiences we’ve seen on a wearable.

New features like the Energy Score will offer comprehensive analyses of personal health metrics, including sleep patterns and heart rate variability, to better prepare users for their day.

Additionally, enhanced algorithms and tracking tools will supposedly improve the accuracy of health metrics, with upgraded sleep AI algorithms providing detailed insights into sleep quality, including movement, sleep latency, heart rate and respiratory rate.

Elsewhere, new fitness features aim to deliver more precise training, with metrics like Aerobic Threshold (AT) and Anaerobic Threshold (AnT) Heart Rate Zones for runners, and Functional Threshold Power (FTP) metrics for cyclists.

Which Samsung watches will get Galaxy AI?

Samsung says that these new features will be available on the next Galaxy Watch lineup via One UI 6 Watch, which is set to be released later this year. So, it’s safe to assume that the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 will have access to Galaxy AI on launch day.

When it comes to older models, at this point, Samsung has not officially announced which Galaxy watches will receive this update.

However, we expect that all those currently running One UI 5 Watch will receive it:

The rumoured Galaxy Watch FE might not get Galaxy AI, as it’s likely to be a cheaper and less feature-rich device.
