Player Tottenham signed for just £15m is now worth more than Arsenal's Ben White

One Tottenham Hotspur player’s transfer value has shot up higher than that of Arsenal star Ben White.

Ange Postecoglou transformed Spurs in his first season as their manager. He completely changed the way they played, and the atmosphere around the club reached new heights as a result.

Several Tottenham players impressed during the 2023/24 season. One of them was particularly brilliant, and that has reflected in his current transfer value.

Destiny Udogie now has a higher transfer value than Ben White

Tottenham signed Destiny Udogie from Udinese in the summer of 2022 for just £15 million (BBC).

The Italian was still 19 years old at the time, so Spurs decided to loan him back to Udinese for a season to allow him to develop.

Udogie returned to Tottenham in the summer of 2023, and he immediately caught Postecoglou’s eye in pre-season.

He became Spurs’ first-choice left-back and had a very impressive debut season in England, playing 30 games in all competitions before he got injured. Gary Lineker went as far as saying Udogie’s injury was the reason why Tottenham’s season collapsed.

The 21-year-old’s brilliant performances have increased his transfer value. CIES Football Observatory reveal that the Italian is now worth £68 million (€80m).

That is worth over four times what Spurs paid for him less than two years ago, and his value is even higher than one of the best full-backs in the Premier League – Ben White.

The Arsenal defender is said to be worth £63.9 million (€75m).

Tottenham’s most valuable players in 2024

Tottenham are building a terrific squad and if they continue in the same way, they have every chance of becoming successful.

Udogie, at £68 million (€80m), is Spurs’ joint-most valuable player right now, alongside Dejan Kulusevski.

Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Pape Matar Sarr, Brennan Johnson and Pedro Porro rank below, with a transfer value of £51.1 million (€60m), according to CIES.

Richarlison is said to be worth £34 million (€40m), while Heung-min Son, James Maddison, Radu Dragusin and Guglielmo Vicario have all been valued at £25.5 million (€30m).

It will be interesting to see if Spurs will sign a player this summer who’s more valuable than all of the above. Their striker target, Lois Openda, is said to be worth £85 million (€100m).
