Feeling Lilibet's Wrath: Queen Elizabeth Put Meghan Markle 'in Her Place' for Hollywood Duchess' One Remark to Staff

The late Queen Elizabeth II once pulled her granddaughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, to the side for some choice words about the new Duchess' behavior.

Meghan Markle and Queen Elizabeth II 'didn't get along' at first, according to a royal insider. MEGA

"Meghan got very upset when she felt that she could taste egg in a dish when she was told there was no egg in there, and she said, 'No, I can taste it, I can taste there's egg in this dish,'" author Katie Nicholl claimed.

According to Nicholl, Queen Elizabeth walked in on the incident and "quietly took Meghan to the side," where she apparently told the TV star, 42, that the royal family does not speak to people "like that."

Meghan and Prince Harry left the royal family in 2020, and while speaking to Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, they both couldn't say enough good things about the matriarch.

"It's hard for people to distinguish the two because it's a family business, there's the family, and then there are the people that are running the institution, those are two separate things and it's important to be able to compartmentalize that because the Queen, for example, has always been wonderful to me," Meghan explained.

The mom-of-two also brought up how the monarch went out of the way to be kind to her when they made an appearance in 2018.

"I mean, we had one of our first joint engagement together. She asked me to join her, and I was on the train," she recalled. "And we have breakfast together that morning and she gave me a beautiful gift and I just really loved being in her company, and I remember we were in the car and she gave me some beautiful pearl earrings and a matching necklace, and we were in the car going between engagements."

The Suits star continued: "And she has a blanket that sits across her, her knees, for warmth and it was chilly and she was like, 'Meghan, come on.' And put it over my knees as well. And it made me think of my grandmother, where she's always been warm and inviting and really welcoming."

This follows an insight from royal expert Angela Levin from March about the pair's continued use of their royal connections. "The late Queen, she didn't want this. She made them promise that they wouldn't use their royal titles to make money, and then what?"

She added: "They seemed to agree, but obviously it hasn't lasted. And to deliberately go against that is shocking and disrespectful."

Meghan's usage of her title has been a "mess of contradictions" when it comes to how she approaches her royal status in the four-year wake of "Megxit," when both she and Prince Harry abandoned their royal duty.
