Virgil van Dijk responds when asked if he’d rather sign for Manchester United or Everton

Virgil van Dijk is a modern day Liverpool legend.

The Dutchman is the club captain and he’s been a huge part in the Reds’ success in recent years.

Van Dijk has written his name into Liverpool folklore forevermore, and it’s almost hard to picture the defender playing for anybody else.

Speaking to Pro Direct Soccer, Van Dijk was asked a rather cheeky question this week.

Indeed, Van Dijk was asked about signing for two of Liverpool’s biggest rivals.

The Dutchman was questioned as to whether he’d rather sign for Everton or Manchester United, and he gave an interesting response.

Virgil van Dijk asked about signing for Everton or Manchester United

The defender refused to even answer a question about signing for either Everton or United.

“I’ve got a question for you, would you rather play for Everton or Manchester United?” Van Dijk was asked.

“Haha, I’m not even going to answer that question because it would never happen,” Van Dijk said.

Van Dijk will only play for Liverpool

There’s an element of uncertainty around Van Dijk’s future at Liverpool as he heads into the final year of his contract, but regardless of what happens, it’s fair to say that Liverpool are the only English club he’ll play for.

Van Dijk is way too much of a legend at Anfield to play for any of the Reds’ rivals, and the fact that he won’t even entertain this sort of question goes to show how loyal he is.

The thought of Van Dijk playing for Everton or United is enough to send a shiver up any Liverpool fans’ spine, but, luckily, it sounds as though pigs will fly before Van Dijk heads to Goodison Park or Old Trafford.

The Liverpool captain certainly gave the right answer to this question.
