4-star WR Travis Smith walks red carpet on Georgia official visit alongside HC Kirby Smart

Atlanta Westlake four-star wide receiver Travis Smith is one of the top targets on Georgia’s recruiting board heading into the summer.

The touted pass-catcher is eyeing a July 13 commitment and will take official visits to each of his four finalists — UGA, Auburn (June 7), Alabama (June 14) and Tennessee (June 21) — before coming to a decision. He’s kicking things off with his OV in Athens this weekend.

The top-75 overall prospect suited up in a Dawgs uniform and hit the red carpet for a photo shoot on Friday. He was joined by head coach Kirby Smart, who accompanied the blue-chipper on his walk like a manager flanking a WWE superstar on their way to the ring.

Georgia is trending heavily for Smith, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Earlier this week in Nashville at the On3 Elite Series, an educational seminar discussing the new era of NIL and navigating life after football, Smith told On3’s Chad Simmons that the in-state school and Tennessee sit atop his recruitment.

“The leading two right now, Georgia and Tennessee, they’re really pushing hard,” Smith said. “They’re really at a standstill with each other. But ‘Bama and Auburn, they really have a lot to show upcoming with these official visits.”

Smith took multiple trips to Athens last fall and also returned this spring. Now, the Dawgs are quite literally rolling out the red carpet as they try and secure his commitment this summer.

“When I go there, I can just feel the winning nature of everybody,” Smith said of UGA. “From the staff, the players, even from the medical staff. They have a winning culture.”

Official visits will be crucial for Smith and his family down the stretch. While he’s visited each of his four finalists plenty, he’ll be looking for further separation across the coming weeks.

“Most important,” Smith said about the significance of these visits. “They definitely have to sell themselves. I’m just ready to see what they have to offer. But me seeing these OVs, that will be the determining factor where I go to school. Those four schools, all of them have an equal chance, but the frontrunners are definitely Georgia and Tennessee.”

Smith is the No. 75 overall prospect and No. 11 WR in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 11 player in Georgia.
