Disgraced Former MMA Fighter Pleads Guilty To Brutal Stabbing Murder In New Jersey

Andrew Osborne, Former MMA Fighter

A former mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from Philadelphia has found himself at the center of a tragic and violent crime.

Andrew Osborne, a one-time professional MMA competitor, has pleaded guilty to the first-degree aggravated manslaughter of 47-year-old Brian Wilkinson in a hotel room at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The incident occurred on September 23, 2022.

Andrew Osborne, now 35, was once a promising MMA fighter, competing professionally between January 2012 and October 2013. During this brief stint, he fought in three bouts for three separate promotions, amassing a record of one win and two losses.

While his in-ring performances may not have been particularly noteworthy, Osborne's actions outside the cage have now taken center stage, overshadowing any potential he may have shown as a fighter.

On September 23, 2022, Osborne and 47-year-old Brian Wilkinson, a resident of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, found themselves in the same hotel room at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City.

What transpired next is nothing short of horrific. Osborne, for reasons still unknown to the authorities, brutally stabbed Wilkinson to death inside the hotel room.

After committing the gruesome crime, Osborne and his unidentified wife fled the scene, returning to their home in Philadelphia.

However, their escape was short-lived, as detectives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit, working in conjunction with the Philadelphia Police Department, were able to locate and apprehend the assailant.

On May 30, 2023, Osborne pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter in the death of Brian Wilkinson. This admission of guilt came as a surprise to many, as the former fighter had initially been charged with first-degree murder and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

By pleading guilty to the lesser charge of aggravated manslaughter, Osborne is now facing a sentence of 25 years in state prison, with a requirement to serve more than 21 years before becoming eligible for parole under the No Early Release Act.

Brian Wilkinson, the victim in this tragic case, was a 47-year-old resident of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.

According to his obituary, Wilkinson was a graduate of Absegami High School, class of 1994, and had worked for 15 years in the construction industry before transitioning to a bookkeeping role in the medical field. His life was cut short in a senseless act of violence, leaving his loved ones and the community to grapple with the aftermath.

The details surrounding the motive for Osborne's brutal attack on Wilkinson remain elusive, as the authorities have not released any information on the specific circumstances that led to the incident.

This lack of clarity has fueled speculation and left many wondering what could have driven a former MMA fighter to commit such a heinous crime.
