Florida Sens. Rubio And Scott Lead Effort To Block Biden’s Agenda To “Tear This Country Apart”

Florida Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott

In the wake of former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict in the alleged hush-money trial, Sens. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio are helping lead an effort to block or slow down President Joe Biden’s effort “to tear this country apart.”

The Florida Republicans were among eight GOP senators who signed a pledge to thwart Biden’s agenda as much as possible, especially pertaining to the legal system.

Scott announced the move in a press release issued Friday.

“The White House has made a mockery of the rule of law and fundamentally altered our politics in un-American ways,” the pledge states. “As a Senate Republican conference, we are unwilling to aid and abet this White House in its project to tear this country apart.”

“To that end, we will not 1) allow any increase to non-security related funding for this administration, or any appropriations bill which funds partisan lawfare; 2) vote to confirm this administration’s political and judicial appointees; and 3) allow expedited consideration and passage of Democrat legislation or authorities that are not directly relevant to the safety of the American people.”

Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee, who is leading the maneuver said on X, “Strongly worded statements are not enough. Those who turned our judicial system into a political cudgel must be held accountable."

In an email to constituents on Saturday, Scott said he backed the pledge because Biden “disrespects the rule of law and continually politicizes and weaponizes the U.S. judicial system.”

In addition to Scott, Rubio, and Lee, the other lawmakers who signed the pledge were Sens. J.D. Vance, Tommy Tuberville, Eric Schmitt, Marsha Blackburn, and Roger Marshall.
