After describing the shock Donald Trump and his lawyers demonstrated after the Manhattan hush money jury ruled against him on 34 felony counts on Thursday, the Guardian's Hugo Lowell said now-convicted Trump likely has no alternatives when it comes to legal representation as he moves on to his next trial.

Speaking with MSNBC host Katie Phang, Lowell described how crestfallen Trump and his lawyers were when they realized the jury had reached their verdict so quickly, describing the former president and his team laughing and joking when they were called back into the courtroom before they received the bad news.

Asked about what is next for Trump, Lowell said his next stop is Fort Pierce, Florida where Trump's team led by losing attorney Todd Blanche will immerse his team in the obstruction of justice case being overseen by Trump appointee Judge Aileen Cannon.

Asked if there were any lawyer changes planned after the Manhattan debacle left the former president as a convicted felon, Lowell claimed the former president is stuck with them.

"We will see Todd Blanche in Ft. Pierce with us at the evidentiary hearings?" host Phang asked.

"That is the expectation," Lowell replied. "And, again, the fact that he is still here is indicative of the fact that they think there is nothing he could have done and they have no other better option, you know?"

"Trump is stuck with the legal team he has now," he continued. "You know, and it is him [Blanche] and Emil Bove and they know that this is going to be the team that rides through to the end."
