Notre Dame has its quarterback in 2026. On Saturday, Lake Mary (Fla.) High rising junior Noah Grubbs announced a surprise verbal commitment to the Fighting Irish.

The 6-foot-4½, 195-pound passer is a four-star recruit who ranks as the No. 106 overall player and No. 9 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

Grubbs committed to Notre Dame over offers from 24 other programs, including Florida, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, UCF, Miami, Penn State, Ole Miss, Auburn and Ohio State — all schools he unofficially visited. He also saw Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Arizona State. However, those programs did not offer the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 21 recruit in Florida.

Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska and Syracuse are among the other programs that offered.

Irish quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli offered Grubbs after he participated in one of the program’s three evaluation high school football camps last June. Grubbs returned to campus for the Ohio State game on Sept. 23 and again on March 22.

According to MaxPreps, Grubbs connected on 208-354 passes for 3,670 yards, 49 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 12 games as a sophomore. With Notre Dame now connected to his name, expectations will even be higher entering his junior season.

Social media provided a glimpse of the attention. Here is how users reacted to his commitment.
