Three of the Newark Athletics Club members competed at the event, with Tom Evans representing Scotland in the 400m and claiming the silver medal in a new personal best and club record.

Zoe Smith and Katie Mackintosh were invited to compete in the 400m hurdles with Zoe finishing in second place and Katie third.

A spokesperson for the club said: “The performances the three of them achieved at the event is credit to the hard work done over the winter, and we are confident that the three of them can continue to progress through the season.”

It follows success from the weekend prior, which saw a strong turnout at the Nottinghamshire County Championships from Newark Athletics Club members with a number of gold, silver and bronze medals being won.
