James Maddison says Arsenal ace Declan Rice is the ‘worst’ at one thing in the England squad

Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison has now revealed that Arsenal ace Declan Rice has difficulties with one thing on England duty.

Arsenal trio Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, and Declan Rice are all currently on international duty.

All three will be expecting to be named in Gareth Southgate’s final squad for this summer EUROs tournament.

Rice and Saka, in particular, will be important to the Three Lions this summer. Rice has just enjoyed a fine first season with Arsenal, and will be keen to translate his club form to the international stage, though Southgate is unlikely to grant the 25-year-old as much license to get forward as Mikel Arteta gives him.

Arteta tasked Rice with adopting a more advanced role this season. This decision paid off handsomely, as the former West Ham United man enjoyed his best campaign in front of goal of his career to date, scoring seven times, and proving that he can make an impact at both ends of the pitch.

Rice may be joined in the England midfield by James Maddison at times this summer.

James Maddison levels criticism at Arsenal star Declan Rice

Whilst the pair may be rivals at club level, they seem to get on well enough when representing their country. However, Maddison does have one frustration with the Arsenal star.

Speaking on a video posted to the official England YouTube channel, Maddison stated: “Declan Rice, worst music in the squad. Worst DJ in the squad, Declan Rice.”

It could well be, if this is true, that Rice has already been banned from choosing the music that is played in the Arsenal dressing room. In this video, though, the midfield was able to laugh the comment off.

The sense of team spirit and camaraderie on show here will hearten Southgate, as it is vital that his squad feels connected and harmonious heading into the summer tournament.

Why Mikel Arteta will be watching England at the EUROs

In the meantime, Arteta will simply be hoping that his Arsenal stars can perform well on the international stage and, above all, avoid injury. The Spanish coach will also be conscious of how this tournament may impact the transfer market.

For instance, should Ramsdale get the opportunity to play and impress, then that may help the Gunners to attract a bigger fee for the goalkeeper. Arsenal are aware that Ramsdale is likely to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, as he has lost his starting berth in North London. Potential suitors will have their eye on him during the EUROs, should he find himself on the pitch at any point.
