Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool and Chelsea want to sign ‘very quick’ £45m forward

Liverpool’s new era under Arne Slot is set to really gather pace and there’s talk of a rapid forward being his first signing.

The Reds are moving on now with Jurgen Klopp gone and Slot is now officially the manager now we have ticked into June.

For Slot, it’s going to be a key first few weeks in charge. He’ll want to assess the current squad, get a close bond with existing staff, and then from there, look at who he might fancy signing.

Of course, we’re already seeing a number of players linked with moves to Anfield.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool could be set to move for a £45m-rated forward.

Liverpool and Chelsea definitely interested in Crysencio Summerville

Speaking on his YouTube channel about the potential for Summerville to leave Leeds and join Liverpool, Romano gave the following update.

“Crysencio Summerville is expected to change clubs this summer, and there are two clubs monitoring Crysencio Summerville more than others. One is Liverpool and the other one is Chelsea,” Romano said.

“These two clubs are showing interest in Summerville. Let’s see what Chelsea and Liverpool will decide to do in terms of negotiation.

“We are not yet at that stage, but the interest in Summerville is really concrete with these two clubs involved.

“Let’s see if some other club will also move behind the scenes, but for sure, could be one to watch for the summer transfer window.”

Summerville might not be ready for Liverpool just yet

Despite a brilliant season with Leeds in the Championship, in the end, Summerville came up short.

Those who watched the playoff final will have seen a player who looked a bit off the pace and in a way, he almost threw away his big moment to impress.

Of course, he is a young winger and he has impressed new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca as well, who praised Summerville for being ‘very quick‘ when in posession.

But at £45m, and with others on the market, Liverpool might do well to move on from this one really.

Certainly, there’s a risk attached to this signing and right now, Summerville is probably not at the level of the rest of this squad.
