Divock Origi now sends eight-word message to Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool exit

Divock Origi has sent a message to Jurgen Klopp following his exit from Liverpool last month.

The Jurgen Klopp era at Liverpool is officially over after the German bid farewell to the Anfield faithful last month.

Klopp signed off with a 2-0 victory over Wolves after delivering a League Cup in his final season.

Plenty of current and former Liverpool stars have already paid tribute to Klopp after his departure.

Divock Origi is a player who provided some of the most memorable moments of the German’s tenure, particularly during the 2018-19 campaign when they won the Champions League.

The current Nottingham Forest forward bagged that famous goal in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Barcelona after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s quick corner. Origi also went on to net Liverpool’s second in the final against Tottenham.

Now, the Belgian forward has sent Klopp a heartfelt message on Instagram.

Origi sends message to Klopp

Origi took to social media on Saturday ahead of the Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

The 29-year-old tagged his former boss in the post and paid tribute to Klopp, admitting he’s grateful for their time at Anfield together.

He wrote: “Forever grateful Klopp, what a legacy you’ve built.”

What Klopp has said about Origi

Origi left Liverpool on a free transfer back in the summer of 2022 after eight years at the club.

Despite providing some huge moments in a Liverpool shirt, he never really lived up to his full potential in the Premier League.

Klopp recently admitted that he feels this is down to injuries as he spoke at a farewell Q&A after leaving Liverpool.

“It looks like he really functioned here and it really worked out for him here, in the role he had,” he said.

“The reason why we see Divock in a different way is because I knew Divock before the fella from Everton, [Ramiro] Funes Mori, killed his ankle. He was incredible.

“He played, at Borussia Dortmund, a game I never saw from a striker, honestly. It was absolutely insane.

“Best striker in Europe and at that moment he was 19, maybe 20 – in Europe, in that game, in that specific game.

“Then things happened. You get knocked down, really bad tackle, and then he comes back for the Europa League final, he rushed it a little bit, because it was a final, he tried to get on the pitch, didn’t work out properly.

“And in a really important phase of his career, he couldn’t keep getting confidence, couldn’t learn how good he actually is.

“So we used him in the way we used him. He had a few too many injuries, unfortunately, but we still used him.”

Under Klopp, Origi netted 41 times and provided 15 assists in 175 appearances for the club.
